EV-Kart
* Here are the karts I got from Get in Gear in Pine Island [Upload:img00087.jpg size=66%]
* and whats left after a bit of disassembly [Upload:IMG00137.jpg size=66%]
* This is one I had bought for myself to put a V-twin into [Upload:img00086.jpg size=66%]
* I looked at some motors in the junk pile but they seemed too small [Upload:IMG00231.jpg size=66%]
* I found an old GE motor on ebay and even though its bigger than some golf cart motors that will just make it more fun to drive. I had to get rid of the 5/8 and 3/4 axles and switch to a solid 1inch axle. I also upgraded to #40 sprockets and chain. I hope it holds. the #50 stuff is a lot more money [Upload:IMG00230.jpg size=66%]
* I got a nice curtis controller to make sure it's reliable [Upload:IMG00232.jpg size=66%] [Upload:IMG00238.jpg size=66%]
*I had an old dash housing from a 1984 Fiero. the side pods are perfect for switches. I have to go through some old tractor gauge panels and throw in a Futaba NA202MD13AA VFD in the center [Upload:IMG00234.jpg size=66%] [Upload:IMG00241.jpg size=66%] [Upload:IMG00242.jpg size=66%]
* to go with the new axles I chose some tractor hubs and big turf tires [Upload:IMG00236.jpg size=66%]
* Here is a kart hub next to the tractor hubs. Big difference between the 3 x 5/16 wheel studs and the big 5 x 7/16 stud setup that the tractor hubs use [Upload:IMG00237.jpg size=66%]
* I had this old car amp in the junk pile and it made a perfect heat sink plate for the curtis controller [Upload:IMG00239.jpg size=66%]
* It even looks good and matches the frame color [Upload:IMG00240.jpg size=66%]
* Next comes the battery box on top of the motor. I have 3 large tractor batteries. *I am considering wheelie bars due to the size of the motor. either that or I'll just put a plow blade on the front for now. * I also want to put my old rear tires up front. *I have a steering rack from a John Deere Gator but with that solid axle and big motor it's gonna be more of a straight line drag racer anyway so who needs smooth steering
I cant wait till the snow melts
